Xiaomi’s spinoff brand Poco keeps launching smartphones that are rebranded Redmi devices. The Redmi Note 10 series was a hit in India due to its low pricing and cool specifications. There are Indian users who didn’t purchase the Redmi Note 10 or Note 10 Pro because they were waiting for the Redmi Note 10 Pro 5G’s launch in India. However, as per a leak from Kacper Skrzypek on Twitter, the Redmi Note 10 Pro 5G might launch under the Poco branding in India....

Talks about Xiaomi launching new devices for the Redmi Note 9 series have been going for quite some time now. Just a few days ago, leaks surfaced online suggesting that one of the new devices in the lineup will get a 120Hz refresh rate support. Some other leaks in the past have suggested that one of the devices will also get a 108MP primary sensor. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) on Monday said that the regulatory interventions are not required “in respect of issues related with privacy and security” of Over-the-Top (OTT) services. The authority on Monday released its recommendations on the Regulatory Framework for OTT Communication Services after a “multistage consultation process.” The Department of Telecommunications in 2016, sought the recommendations of Trai on net neutrality “including traffic management and economic, security and privacy aspects of OTT services....

Today, Reliance held its 43rd Annual General Meet (AGM). Just this morning we reported that Google might invest $4 billion in Jio Platforms. In the online meet, Mr Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) confirmed the partnership with Google and made the news official. Reliance Jio ARPU Declining at the Rate of 3% Per Quarter CLSA, which is a wealth management firm based out of Hong Kong, remarked on Tuesday, “ARPU trends were also divergent with Reliance Jio seeing 3% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) decline in Arpus versus 4-5% QoQ increase in Arpus reported by Vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel.” The firm also highlighted that with negligible subscriber churn, the Sunil Bharti Mittal led telecom operator, Bharti Airtel was able to achieve the maximum ARPU of Rs 129 in the telecom industry....

Reliance Jio has just announced 5G for four more cities, including Siliguri, Gwalior, Jabalpur and Ludhiana. Jio has become the first to launch 5G in Gwalior, Jabalpur, and Ludhiana. But note that this is not a commercial launch. Jio is still in the beta phase with Jio Welcome Offer. For Siliguri, Jio has become the second operator with 5G as Airtel had already reached with 5G Plus services there. Jio has said that over 72 cities are now enjoying its 5G network services....

Reliance Jio today added two new plans to its portfolio of plans with Disney+ Hotstar VIP subscription. The plans in question are Rs 499 and Rs 777. While the newly launched Rs 499 plan is a data pack, the Rs 777 is a combo plan with voice calling benefit also on offer. Furthermore, Jio also brought back the ‘Cricket Dhan Dhana Dhan’ offer. Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea Ask for Delayed 5G Spectrum Auction An Airtel spokesperson has said about this new development, “In any auction in the future, Bharti Airtel will participate to pick up small chunks of 4G spectrum in certain circles. On 5G, it will depend on the pricing, which we hope will be set at prices which encourage more investments in networks rather than spectrum purchase.” The Airtel official also added, “Spectrum is the lifeline of the mobile industry....

Reliance Jio Might Have to Rethink Pricing Strategy The brokerage firm, JP Morgan said in a note to its clients, “The likelihood of Jio raising prices is higher today than it was six to nine months ago, which has positive implications for incumbent peers, particularly, Vodafone Idea.” JP Morgan also added that investors are growing cynical by the moment as they believe that Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea’s plan of raising money might increase their capacity which might trigger Reliance Jio to reiterate its pricing strategy....

Reliance Jio, the largest wireless operator in India needs tariff hikes as its financials are “weak,” analysts said. Jio Platforms, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries recorded Rs 3508 crore as consolidated net profit for the quarter ended March 31, 2021, translating to a 47.5% year-over-year (YoY) increase. The development was shared by Reliance Industries on Friday with the company also highlighting that Jio Platforms recorded Rs 18,278 crore as consolidated revenue in its fourth quarter of the previous financial year....

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), the parent company of Reliance Jio, India’s number one telecom service provider, today released its quarterly earnings report for Q2 FY22. Jio’s gross revenue for the quarter was Rs 24,176 crore ($3.3 billion), which is 13.8% higher YoY (adjusted for IUC). The telco’s EBITDA (earnings before interest tax depreciation and amortisation) stood at Rs 10,008 crore, which is 18% higher YoY during the December 2021 quarter....
