Vodafone Idea (Vi) has been refarming the 3G spectrum to 4G since last year. The telco has done it in phases throughout the country, picking one circle after another. Vi plans to slowly remove its 3G services from India and become a 2G and 4G only operator. Now, Vi has refarmed the 3G spectrum to 4G in Maharashtra & Goa. Multiple cities, including Pune, Nashik, Aurangabad, Solapur, Kolhapur, Goa, Jalgaon, Nagpur, Nanded, Sangli-Miraj-Kupwad, Amravati, Akola, Bhiwandi, Ahmednagar, Vasai, and Ulhasnagar are now expected to get better 4G speeds throughout.

Vodafone Idea Deploys Additional Spectrum in Maharashtra and Goa

Vodafone Idea has deployed an additional spectrum in the Maharastra and Goa telecom circle. The telco has deployed 5 MHz of additional spectrum in the 900 MHz as well as 2100 MHz band. With the additional spectrum, users of the telco living in the telecom circle will be able to enjoy better indoor coverage and 4G speeds. With the current spectrum refarming and deployment exercise, Vi now holds the largest quantum of spectrum in the Maharashtra circle across 900, 1800, 2100, 2300 and 2500 bands. In the past year, Vi has invested a lot in its 4G networks across the country and has been trying to upgrade the network capacity so that users don’t have to face congestion. With that, the telco has also been working to improve the 4G network coverage within India, which has been a major pain point in its operations. Now, users living in the Maharashtra and Goa telecom circle should be able to get better coverage and better 4G speeds from the network of Vodafone Idea. This should help the telco in attracting more customers in the region and also retain its old ones. Vodafone Idea has refarmed the 3G spectrum to 4G in multiple states and cities of India already, and thus its 4G network PAN India should be much faster than it used to be.
